From My Library

I was cleaning my photo library when I saw these old photos from EMU last home football game. I didn’t process them at time because the priority was for the game photos. Last home game it’s also the senior day. EMU brought this big eagle for senior students to take pictures with.  It was the first time I get this close to an eagle. Didn’t wast time, I just start shooting like crazy from different angels. These two are the two I like most. Shote it with D90 Nikon 70-200 2.8 ISO :160 Shutter speed:...

Big Games

I started to shot basketball recently. It’s much easier than volleyball for sure but it require a different angles and techniques. Last Sunday was the big game between EMU vs. MSU. For the first time there was a spots for photographers. Now I’m not used to that! I like to move around and take shotes from different angels. But because the game was important and the media were all over it, there was a limitations for photographers. Lessons to learn from this experience, GET THER EARLY...

Last Game

For the last two months I’ve been shooting Eastern Michigan University volleyball games for the Eastern Echo. Last night they had their last home game, which means the last game I shot. They still have two games but unfortunately I’m not gon be there to shot it. Volleyball become my favorite sport to shoot. Maybe because it’s very challenging, or because I become good at shooting it. I remember my first game, I was panicking because the ball was very fast and hard to capture. I shot more than 1,000 frame that night and I end up with about 150 useful frame. Now, I know how to...

Very Busy Weekend!

It was a very busy weekend. shooting sport all the time. I shot about 2000 frame in 3 days. Processed 450 and the final result about 250. Sometimes sport isn’t about those action moments. The emotions inside the field is a good subject too. One of the best actions situations is in bright sunlight where you can shoot on 3200 shutter speed that can freeze a helicopter blades in the air, and I did that the same day. 70-300 f/4-5.6 is a good lens for outdoor sport. You have enough light to push the shutter speed and ISO far to freeze the action.   Volleyball still my favorite sport...

The Fall

It’s amazing what you can do in post processing. This a photo I took about a month ago and a month a go there was no yellow leaves. When I started working on this HDR shot, it looks to me better with a Fall looking leaves. I may work on another version when I have a chance.

Shooting Sport

For the last two weeks, I’ve been covering volleyball games for Eastern Echo. I have to say I enjoyed each game of them. The energy in the field makes me starve to shoot more. When I started shooting for a paper sport was the last thing in my mind for two reasons. First, shooting sport is very expensive. You need the best cameras and the best lenses out there in order to have a good photo. I didn’t think my Nikon D90 will really pull a good results (at least in my opinion). Second, I didn’t think I have the experience to do it. Yes I shot couple soccer games but there was...
